The drive from Kampala to Mbarara took about 5 to 6 hours, and we encountered construction occurring on the road as well, which slowed us down and contributed to an unbelievable amount of dust.
The passing scenery was breathtaking, however, so I didn’t really mind the long trip. For someone accustomed to the flatness of the Lowcountry, the rolling hills were therapeutic. Some pictures:
Also, we passed the equator!

That's so cool that you actually drove right across the equator!! Was it hot there? Or did you actually notice anything other than the sign that told you as you were passing?
ReplyDeleteThe weather has actually been really nice... I'd say mid- to high-80s each day, with zero humidity. In the sun, it can get hot; I actually got slightly burnt on the ride to Mbarara because I was in a window seat and the sun was beating down on the right side of my nose/neck.
ReplyDeleteAnd it was just that sign and the row of shops! You might think the area around the Equator might be better developed as to attract more tourists, but nope. The pictures show pretty much the whole thing, along with some people selling their produce further down.
